St. Johns County is home to two of the top ranked high schools in Florida and in the USA. Bartram Trail High School is located in Switzerland, FL and has been consistently rated an A school since its opening in 2001. Only a change in rating points dropped it to a B rating for the 2006-2007 year. It was ranked number 894 out of the nation’s top 1000 high schools for 2005 by Newsweek. For the 2006, it increased in ranking to 568. And for 2007 it improved its ranking again to position 455.
Bartram has many academic offerings including a special 9th Grade Academy to transition students from middle school to high school successfully. They also offer an Advanced Scholar Program, a Business and Finance major program, a Construction and Design major program, and a Turf Management major program. They also offer JROTC Air Force, and Band and Chorus music programs.
There are a wide array of sports programs for students to learn about and participate in as team members: Baseball, Basketball, Cheerleading, Cross Country, Dance, Football, Golf, LaCrosse, Soccer, Softball, Swimming, Tennis, Track, Volleyball, Winterguard, and Wrestling.
Teens can join a variety of social and service clubs at BTHS. Included for 2007-08 are: Class Officers, Blue Prints Newspaper, Chess Club, Cultural Orientation Club, DECA, French Club, Hand Speak (Sign Language), Hispanic Honor Society, High-Q Team, Interact Club, International Thespian Society (Drama), Miss Bartram Pageant, MMPR, Model United Nations, Mu Alpha Theta, National History Club, National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, Oracle, Photography Club, Rho-Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, TV/Media Club, SADD-Students Against Destructive Decisions, Senior Women, Sigma Nu Theta-Science Honor Society, Tailgating Club, Tri-M Music Honor Society, and more.
