Nassau County: Amelia Island, Fernandina Beach

Located just north of the Jacksonville metropolitan area and just south of Georgia, Amelia Island is a great place for short or long visits. It has numerous activities to fit everyone’s needs no matter what the demographics.

Activities include:

  • The beaches – miles and miles of pristine beaches offer opportunities for swimming, surfing, fishing, beachcombing, birdwatching, horseback riding and more.
  • Parks and Playgrounds – There are many city parks that offer green space for children and adults to enjoy recreational opportunities or just watching wildlife.
  • Fishing – The area has many venues for the fisherman or woman. You can ride on a charter fishing vessel or fish from the beach.
  • Boating – There are many boat ramps offering easy access to the beautiful waterways of the area.
  • History – Many museums offer insight into the area’s colorful past as a seafaring village of the past centuries.
  • Shopping – The streets of downtown Fernandina beckon with a plethora of locally owned shops offering a little bit of everything from fudge to Vera Bradley.
  • Dining – People come to this area just to eat at the great restaurants that dot the landscape.
